Family Forum

Event Description

Families, please join us for a dynamic and interactive conference just for you! This one-day event is for families of children who are blind or visually impaired.  

Details: Lunch is free of charge.

KSSB is excited to present the following speakers at the 2022 Family Forum:

● Dave Wilkinson

    • Dave is a digital accessibility expert, currently working for Hilton Hotels. A blind triathlete, Dave competes in Iron Man triathlons and marathons.

● Anthony Blades

    • Parent of a son with multiple disabilities, and a Teacher of Students with VisualImpairments and a Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist.

● Lesli Girard (Families Together)

    • Families Together assists parents and their children with disabilities in the state of Kansas by encouraging, educating and empowering families to be effective advocates for their children.

● Jane Groff (KPIRC)

    • The Kansas Parent Information Resource Center supports Kansas families by providing resources for at home learning, building the capacity of parents to become involved in their children’s education, developing parent advocacy and leadership skills, and ensuring families receive literacy training and resources to support their children’s academic achievement.

● Madeline Bowens (Working Healthy)

    • The Working Healthy Program assists individuals with disabilities, agencies and stakeholders to understand the work incentives that encourage employment and increased self-sufficiency.

● Plus a panel of college students and young professionals discussing the use of assistive technology at college campuses and in the workplace!
