A trailblazer is someone who doesn’t necessarily have the same opportunity, the same leg up as another person. A trailblazer is somebody who has to pave that path for themselves… somebody who blazes that trail, and doesn’t look back.

Welcome to Kansas Trailblazers Weekend at Kansas State School for the Blind. Our theme for this event is: Urban Jungle Jamboree
PLEASE READ the requirements to attend before registering your student/young adult.
- Meals & Lodging Provided
- Drop off 3:30 pm Friday, September 27th
- Pick up 12:00 pm Sunday, September 29th
Registration is limited – Register Early!!! DEADLINE TO APPLY is September 10, 2024.
Participants must be:
- Age 12-18 or Grades 6-12. KSSB Transition Students are not eligible.
- Have NO history of behavior issues including: non-compliance, elopement, aggression, etc.
- Independent in all self-care including toileting and showering.
- Independent in managing clothing and personal items.
- Independent (age appropriate) in travel/cane skills (Does not need 1:1 to travel).
- Able to locate stairs/drop-offs/obstacles in variety of environments.
- Able to independently get in and out of a vehicle.
- Have a signed waiver to participate in the KCBAS 5K, one of the weekend activities.
- Registered to attend via this Google Form.
A parent letter with more information will be sent to each applicant upon registration.
