Event Description
This event is designed for students in 5th-12th grade with low vision.
Students will:
- Learn about the visual system
- Learn about their specific visual impairment
- Explore & use near and distance handheld devices at Boot Hill Museum
- Participate in making their own lunch
All areas of the expanded core curriculum will be incorporated into the day with specific focus on access skills (compensatory, sensory efficiency and assistive technology). A visit to the Boot Hill Museum after lunch will allow students to practice their access skills in a real-life activity. Upon registration, teachers will be provided with lesson plans for two pre-teaching activities and one follow-up lesson to further extend the day’s learning.
