Make48 Weekend

Event Description

Event Description: Make48 weekend at KSSB is designed to give students with visual impairments the opportunity to solve real-world problems through creativity!
Make48 and Kansas State School for the Blind (KSSB) have partnered with local companies to present the first-ever design competition hosted at KSSB on December 2nd – 4th, 2022 at KSSB Makerspace, on-campus in Kansas City, Kansas.

This one-of-a-kind experience will encourage students to use accessible design-thinking alongside analytical & communication skills to compete. Selected winners have the opportunity to advance on to the National Make48 competition to be held in Kansas City, MO in March 2023.

Participant competitors will be grouped alongside professional designers, engineers, and technologists to make and create anything they can think of! To participate, individuals must be blind or visually impaired between the ages of 12 to 21. Food and lodging will be provided and parents/guardians are encouraged to attend.
